Arya Samaj marriages are distinguished by their simplicity, lack of idol worship, and absolute adherence to Rigvedic principles.
The ceremony is conducted around a fire altar (Havan Kund). Sanskrit slokas from the Vedas are chanted to invoke the presence of the cosmic powers, urging the couple to lead a life of truth, charity, and mutual respect.
Unlike elaborate social weddings, an Arya Samaj wedding is brief, meaningful, and completed in about 1.5 to 2 hours without any dowry exchanges, matching of horoscopes, or unnecessary expenses.
